About Us
Pathways Housing Wellness Corporation (PHWC) is a nonprofit affordable housing developer that aims to improve health outcomes for very low-income Philadelphians by pairing safe, secure, and affordable housing with high-quality wrap-around services to address behavioral and physical health issues. Our developments and services are targeted towards those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness and those who are very low-income.
PHWC was founded by Pathways to Housing PA (PTHPA) in 2020. PTHPA is a well-respected agency that aims to end chronic homelessness in Philadelphia through a Housing First model, providing homes without preconditions then addressing underlying issues around mental health, substance abuse, medical care, and education. Using this model, PTHPA houses over 600 participants in market-rate apartments across Philadelphia, boasting an 85% housing retention rate for participants.
PTHPA founded PHWC to address a growing need for affordable housing, not only for PTHPA program participants but for all low-income Philadelphia residents. As a nonprofit developer, we build units that are truly affordable to those most in need in our city – including those who are difficult to house because of behavioral health issues. We aim to reserve 30% of our developments for people at risk of homelessness and are committed to developing housing where tenants pay no more than 30% of their income on housing, even if their income is $0.
While we cannot solve the entirety of Philadelphia’s housing crisis, we are dedicated to building truly affordable units for those most in need in our community.
